COPE is caring for our children
In Mercer County, more and more the vast number of children finding their parents non-responsive or deceased from drug and/or alcohol overdoses, as well as suicides, continue to tragically rise at a rapid pace. It is truly heartbreaking to witness children standing by their parent’s casket or laying on top of them in the casket. . . Even with Christian faith, there are not any words to console this unnecessary devastating loss. As Christians, we can hold them in our arms as they crumple and weep, “I want my mommy or daddy. This is so unfair.” We can then tell them we love them, Jesus loves them, and has a special place in his heart for those struggling. God’s love is merciful and will see them through.
Mercer County is also 5th in the state of PA with babies being born with dependencies and they are being treated and monitored with utmost medical care through the withdraw period after birth. Our Lord is calling us. . . hear my children weeping.
We have many county officials asking for faith base communities help. Even in the bible it states in many places, come together in complete unity as one body in Christ especially during times of adversity.
Psalms 23:3 He guides me on the right paths, for his name sake. John 17:23 I in them and you in me – so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
Two places all Christians are being called and can help are reconnecting with each other and prayer. On Wednesday., October 17th, at 6:30 pm Mercer County Coroner, John Libonati, will be speaking at COPE Town Hall on Getting Reconnected. On Saturday, October 20th, at 8:30 am till around 11:00 am Mercer United Methodist Church will be host church for the Kingdom Unification All Denominational Pastor and Faith Community Prayer Gathering. Join us in the spiritual uplifting as we ask for God’s movement and transformation of hearts.
